I STAND FOR THIS

I am so behind. Seriously, I've been without internet for less than a week and I feel like a soap opera character who wakes up from a coma with a completely different face, voice, and personality, trying to catch up on everything I've missed. Well, in the meantime, here's a new vid featuring some of the goodies from recent Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.

FROM QUANTUM RANGER TO STREET FIGHTER

Power Ranger Time Force's Daniel Southworth just simply doesn't age. I'm even more convinced of this by the latest video from Thousand Pounds Action Company, featuring Dan and fellow ass-kicking stunt actors, Reuben Langdon and Mark Musashi, whose combined list of credits could block out the sun. It's increasingly amusing to see people on youtube completely outdo the action in Hollywood films that were produced, based on some of the same video game properties. Come on, Hollywood. Step it up a notch.

AKIBARANGER, GOOOO!

2012's OTHER new Super Sentai series, Akibaranger, is set to go in a couple months. For those still unaware, it's an adult-themed series airing in a late night time slot, targeting the nerdy audience that follows these shows around like white on rice. Here's a behind-the-scenes promo, with a truly hilarious ending. I'm not sure if this show will light my world on fire, but as a secondary series, it has my attention. Plus, I love the Red suit. Even the crazy anime helmet hair.

AVENGE US ALREADY

How much win can one movie possibly contain? We'll find out in a couple months, when "The Avengers" comes out. As cheesy and unlikely as it all seems from a Hollywood film perspective, it's exciting as all hell to see the likes of so many superheroes gathered for one film. Marvel deserves some serious praise for such an ambitious project, despite whatever missteps they've made along the way. Let's do this.

VOTE FOR JAYDEN, BECAUSE MIKE ISN'T NOMINATED

Alex Heartman has been nominated for a Kids Choice Award for his role as Jayden on "Power Rangers Samurai." Nothing against Alex at all here, but... I can't help but think that this is because he's the Red Ranger, and everyone knows the Red Ranger is the coolest ever, right? Except I think Hector David Jr. has actually done a stellar job as Green Ranger Mike, consistently one of the most entertaining members of the main cast. He was utterly robbed here. But since a win for Alex is a win for Power Rangers in general, bringing added recognition to the brand, I see the sense in voting for him. Other than just wanting to support Alex, that is.

THE HEROPOWER SHOW - EPISODE 3 - TEST YOUR MIGHT

In this episode, our brains break as we try to make sense of everything that's happened to "Power Rangers Samurai" in the past year, and how it relates to the rest of the franchise. Including the debut of "Super Samurai" and what it means for the current incarnation of Rangers. Spoilers ahoy. Raise snark shields to maximum.

SPIKE GETS PHYSICAL ON "THE MENTALIST"

Actor Felix Ryan has gotten a lot of flak from fans (or non-fans, depending on your perspective) for his role as Bulk's squeaky-voiced sidekick, Spike, on "Power Rangers Samurai." Well, this is one of those times that proves what I've always said. Just because an actor is handed a seemingly bad role doesn't mean the actor himself is to blame. I don't exactly think every actor who's ever been on Power Rangers has an Emmy-winning performance just waiting to be seen, but there are a few gems. Here's Felix Ryan's guest spot on "The Mentalist."

SPIDER-MAN IS BACK IN IRRELEVANT 3-D

While everybody and their mother is excited about the upcoming Avengers movie, there seems to be a lot more hesitation about "The Amazing Spider-Man," the latest film interpretation of the classic comic hero. Makes sense, considering the success of the previous three movies, which this one totally ignores by rebooting the story. And then there are those who read the books and will never be satisfied. And finally, there are those that make me want to strangle them, with their comparisons between this and the "Twilight" movie series, for having a young guy who looks like he belongs in the 21st century instead of the 1960's but transplanted into now, like a Brady Bunch movie situation. Regardless of what category you fall into, you're getting a new Spidey flick. I, for one, am curious about where they take this. And given his excellent performance in "The Social Network" (another dreadfully misunderstood film by many), I'm excited to see Andrew Garfield's take on teen-outcast-turned-hero Peter Parker.

THE DEATH AND RETURN OF SUPERMAN

This unspeakably genius video recounts the fall and rise of Superman and its effects on the landscape of the comic book industry in hilarious fashion. It also stars a huge cast of noted actors, geeks, and filmmakers, such as Elijah Wood, Chris Hardwick, Ron Howard, and Mandy Moore, just to name a few.

HOLY CRAP, IT'S THE AVENGERS

What... What are those flying things? I must know now. Whatever they are, Tony Stark seems to be taking the whole thing in stride. Sufficiently excited. Now show me the movie. Meanwhile, I'm going to rewatch this 700 more times.
